Introduced during the 2006/07 season by then-President Bob Rogers, the President's XV Award scheme seeks to identify and reward best practice in community rugby clubs.
The President's XV Award scheme consists of 15 different awards in various categories including the headlining award: 'This Is Rugby'. The 'This Is Rugby' award is presented to a club which embodies the core values of our sport; Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. The award is given to a rugby organisation which has undertaken a project that promotes rugby's core values to members and the local community to enhance the image of the game.
It is an honour for RHUL Women's Rugby BEARS to announce that they are the lucky winners of the 'This Is Rugby' award for 2010/2011! The award was given to the BEARS based on a combination of hours upon hours of voluntary coaching at Egham Rugby Club, monthly rugby sessions with Spelthorne Disability Sports Club, participation in Make A Difference Day, Volunteering Weeks, RAG Week, The BIG Spring Clean and plenty of charity projects.
It gives the BEARS great pleasure to announce that they will be receiving a cheque for £500 which will be reinvested to support community rugby. In addition to presenting the BEARS with a shiny new trophy to add to their growing collection, the RFU plan to use the club's "outstanding" work as a case study in 'Models of Good Practice' booklet to be published and distributed to the game.
WELL DONE RHUL WOMEN'S RUGBY BEARS FOR THIS WELL DESERVED AWARD!
